White label booking software is a vendor's platform with your logo, your colours and often your domain. It looks like yours. Custom booking software is built for your business and handed over to you. It is yours.
Both can look the same to your customers. The difference is in what happens behind the page: who sets the rules, who holds the data, what you pay over time and what happens if you want to leave.

What white label really means
A white label platform is built once and sold to many businesses. Each of them gets the same software with a different logo. You can usually change the colours, the logo, the texts and sometimes the domain. You can't change how the software works.
That is fine when your business works the way the platform expects. It becomes a problem when it doesn't. Then your team adds workarounds: a spreadsheet next to the platform, manual approvals by email, a second tool for what the first one can't do.
There is one more thing to check: the data. Your customers, their bookings and their history sit in the vendor's system. Ask before you sign how you get all of it out, in what format, and what it costs.
What custom booking software means
Custom booking software is built around your business. The booking flow, the prices, the rules, the admin panel and the integrations follow how you work. When the project ends, the repository is transferred to you with full documentation.
It used to mean a long and expensive project. It doesn't have to. We start from building blocks we have shipped many times, so engineers spend the time on what makes your business different. The build takes 2 to 3 weeks, and the price is fixed before it starts. What drives that price is in How Much Does Custom Booking Software Cost?
When white label is the right choice
- You need to take bookings next week.
- Your booking flow is standard: pick a service, a time, pay.
- The monthly fee is small compared with what bookings bring in.
- You don't need the booking data in your other systems.
If that is you, choose white label and don't look back.
When custom booking software is the right choice
- Your rules don't fit: packages, memberships, deposits, approvals, several things booked at once.
- The fees grow with every new location, user or booking.
- Bookings have to work with your CRM, ERP, access control or your own app.
- You want full control over customer data, GDPR and where the data is stored.
- The booking experience is part of your brand, not just a logo on a template.
If you want to sell booking to your own clients
Some businesses look at white label because they want to offer booking to their own customers: a franchise, a network of venues, a software company adding booking to its product.
Here there is a third option: your own platform, which you then offer to your clients under your brand. You own the code, so you set the price, the features and the roadmap. If that is your plan, say so in the brief, and the prototype will show it.
If instead you build booking systems for clients as a freelancer or a small studio, look at Timerise Builders, our partner program.
How to decide in one afternoon

Frequently asked questions
Can custom booking software look as polished as a white label platform?
Yes. It is designed for your brand from the start, not adapted from a template. You see it before you commit, in the clickable prototype.
Is white label cheaper?
At the start, yes. Over time it depends on the fees and how much you grow. With custom software you pay once for the build and then for hosting, with no commission.
We already use a white label platform. Can we move?
Yes. We move your customers, bookings and history, even when the platform has no export. The old platform keeps running until the data matches, so bookings never stop.
